Arya’s Bucket List Adventure to Iceland- Thrillophilia Review

We only live once, love once, and get married once, but we can travel as much as we want! Arya, a huge fan of YJHD’s Ranbir, believes in experiencing new places and cultures. Her dream trip was to see the Northern Lights in Iceland.

For years, Arya and her sister dreamed of witnessing those magical neon lights dancing in the night sky. Finally, their dream was coming true when they booked their perfect Iceland adventure with Thrillophilia. What made the excitement double was the beautiful vibrant cities they would be covering and it would be the perfect adventure to create memories together! This trip promised to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience that they will cherish forever.

The Magical Trip Begins

Arya and her sister arrived in Reykjavik, eager to explore Iceland and on the first day they took some time to enjoy the city's relaxed atmosphere. Their first stop was the Perlan Museum, where they marvelled at the interactive exhibits that showcased Iceland’s natural wonders. They also spent time strolling through Reykjavik’s charming streets, popping into local shops and cosy cafés, soaking in the peaceful vibes of the city.

The next day, they set off early for the Golden Circle Tour. Their first stop was Thingvellir National Park, where they were awestruck by this unique geological landscape, the tectonic plates and the rift between two continents. The sight was unlike anything they had ever seen. Next, they visited the Strokkur geyser, which erupted dramatically every few minutes, sending jets of water high into the air (another natural wonder that left them in awe!). But the highlight of the day was the Gullfoss waterfall, with its powerful, thundering cascades leaving them speechless.

Lastly, they visited the Blue Lagoon, where they enjoyed relaxing in the warm, and mineral-rich waters. The refreshing dip in the stunning blue waters of the lagoon was the perfect conclusion for the day.

The Most Awaited Moment

The day had finally arrived, and as they spent the afternoon on Reynisfjara Beach - quite a unique beach with black sand and tall cliffs - all they could talk about was their night tour to see the Northern Lights. Their long-awaited dream was about to come true. They boarded the transfer bus for the Northern Lights tour, both their hearts filled with excitement. As they travelled away from the city lights, the anticipation grew with every passing minute. Finally, they arrived at the perfect spot.

The night sky was clear, and soon, the Northern Lights began to shimmer and dance in vivid greens and purples. They watched in silence, holding each other’s hands, overwhelmed with emotion. After years of dreaming, the magic of the aurora borealis was more breathtaking than they had ever imagined. Arya almost had tears in her eyes as the glowing greens hit her eyes and her heart!

Amidst Nature & its Whispers

They next headed to the scenic city of Akureyri. They wandered through the Akureyri Art Museum, captivated by the rich collection of Icelandic art that told stories of the country’s culture and history. The museum’s peaceful atmosphere allowed them to reflect and immerse themselves in the creativity of the local artists. Afterwards, they took a leisurely stroll through the Akureyri Botanical Gardens and they were mesmerised by the unique variety of plants, both native and exotic. It was a calming experience with the flowers offering bursts of colour against the cool Icelandic air.

Their next adventure took them to the powerful Dettifoss Waterfall. The powerful rush of the water cascading down filled them with wonder, and they felt the earth vibrate beneath their feet as they stood near the falls. Godafoss, with its graceful horseshoe shape, was equally breathtaking and the serene surroundings created a perfect contrast to the roaring water, and they lingered, taking in the beauty of the scene.

Later, they explored Lake Mývatn, where the volcanic formations and geothermal activity felt otherworldly. The diverse birdlife around the lake added to the experience, making it a day filled with natural wonders. Akureyri, with its tranquil scenery, created countless unforgettable moments, making them feel more connected to nature than ever! Their visit to this stunning city was an unforgettable journey through its serene landscapes.

The Final Stop

After a scenic drive, Arya and her sister arrived in Reykjavik, their last stop for the trip. They circled back to Reykjavik to explore the city more and wrap up their trip with a relaxed experience. They started their day with a visit to City Hall. The building had a unique charm and the striking modern design and vibrant art installations caught their attention. Then, they took a peaceful walk along Ytri Tunga Beach, enjoying the breathtaking views of the coastline. Later, they immersed themselves in Iceland’s rich seafaring history at the Reykjavik Maritime Museum. With so much to see and do, the day was filled with exploration, art, and learning, marking the perfect end to their adventure.

Arya and her sister reflected on the beauty and magic of Iceland as they headed home. From the powerful waterfalls to the tranquil beaches, every experience deepened their connection with each other and the world around them. And of course, witnessing the Northern Lights, a dream they had held for so long, had exceeded every expectation, leaving them in awe of nature’s wonder.
