Wild & Majestic Encounter
The first stop of the trip was the famous Kaziranga National Park. The arrival day was spent relaxing and soaking in the hotel in Kaziranga, a cocoon enveloped in tranquillity. The next day they were all set to go on the jeep safari and witness the amazing wildlife in the park.
As they drove through the park, they admired the vast green landscape filled with tall grasses and wetlands. The sounds of nature filled the air, making them feel completely immersed in the wild. On their safari, they were quite fortunate to spot the one-horned rhinoceros by the water. Everyone was amazed by the sight of this powerful animal.
They watched quietly, in awe of its size and beauty, knowing it was a rare and special moment they would never forget.
Still in awe of the jungle adventure, they enjoyed a hearty breakfast along with a special local dish Khal, a signature Assamese dish. They all enjoyed a good time and headed to Shillong, known as Scotland of the East.
Land of Magnificent Waterfalls
The following day was dedicated to exploring the stunning waterfalls near Shillong. Each waterfall in Meghalaya has its own unique story and its own special charm. They were a reminder of nature's special way of creating beauty, leaving everyone with a deep sense of connection and awe.
Sheetal and her friends were gasping with astonishment and happiness as they explored the stunning waterfalls, each more beautiful than the last. Their journey began at Elephant Falls, where the cascading waters split into 3 tires making it a marvel of nature. The group then headed to the Mawkdok Dympep which became their hotspot for photographs! The panoramic views of the lush green landscapes brought the filmy side of them and they were humming songs, posing for pictures, and making memories together.
The next stop was the hidden gem of Meghalaya, Wei Sawdong Falls, located deep in the forest, where the waterfall beautifully cascaded into a serendipitous natural pool with blue-green waters. What truly took their breath away was the next waterfall, the famous Nohkalikai Falls.
With its powerful 335-meter drop, one of the tallest in India, surrounded by dense forests and mist, Sheetal and her friends were left speechless. They sat there for a while witnessed a breathtaking sunset and breathed in the peace of the golden hour.
Nongriat Trekking Adventure
The true adventure day for Sheetal and the group was the Nongriat Trek which takes you to the Double Decker Root Bridge. The starting point of the trek was Tyrna village and with gushing enthusiasm, they all embarked on this enthralling adventurous trekking. The trek proved to be both challenging and rewarding, as they trekked through steep inclines, uneven terrains, and slippery steps.
Along the way, they stopped and witnessed many stunning views of lush forests, vibrant wildlife, and crystal-clear streams. The group's excitement grew as they reached the iconic living root bridges, marvelling at the unique natural architecture formed over generations. Their guide told them the history and the design of the bridge and they were all quite fascinated with the knowledge.
Despite the physical strain, the adventure brought them closer, leaving them with unforgettable memories of nature’s beauty and the joy of shared discovery.
An Eye-Opening Experience
After an adventurous experience, it was time for a serene and peaceful escapade. Sheetal and her friends visited Mawlynnong, renowned as Asia's cleanest village. They were stunned by the pristine beauty and the villagers’ commitment to a sustainable lifestyle. It seemed like a paradise where people and nature coexist in perfect harmony.
As they walked through the village and talked to the locals, they marvelled at the spotless surroundings, eco-friendly practices, and warm hospitality. The experience was a profound reminder of the power of community and simple living in nature.
The Perfect Final Spot
The amazing trip was coming to an end and Sheetal and the entire group were quite excited for their final stop to experience the scenic Dawki River. As they imagined, it turned out to be the perfect conclusion to their journey. They embarked on a serene boating trip, gliding over crystal-clear waters surrounded by lush hills. They also went on the Umngot Bridge and took endless pictures with crystal clear waters and a stunning lush green hills backdrop.
