"Experience with Thrillophilia was excellent. I would like to provide special thanks to Sathyabhasini from the Ops team, Manisha (ground support team), Yogesh Gurung from the Bella Casa hotel in Gangtok, cab crew Vinod, Nikesh, and Lakhpa from Gangtok, and Bijay and Lakhpa from Darjeeling. Thanks to the staff team of Hotel Golden Dolma, Darjeeling, for prompt service. We were not able to visit Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir due to heavy snowfall, but Manisha and the team arranged alternate tourist spots for us to visit in place of the missed ones. Thank you, team, for your continuous support during the entire journey."
Some holidays are remembered for the places visited. Others are remembered for the people who helped make the experience special.
For Chintamani Walvekar, his six-day journey through Gangtok and Darjeeling offered a little of both. The itinerary covered some of the most popular destinations in the Eastern Himalayas, from the viewpoints and monasteries of Gangtok to the tea gardens and mountain vistas of Darjeeling. Yet when the trip came to an end, it was the support he received throughout the journey that stood out just as much as the destinations themselves.
The trip began with a scenic drive from Bagdogra to Gangtok. As the roads gradually climbed into the hills, the landscape transformed from busy towns to winding mountain routes accompanied by views of the Teesta River. Upon reaching Gangtok, the town immediately felt welcoming. The lively streets, local cafés, and bustling MG Marg offered the perfect introduction to Sikkim's capital city.
The following day was dedicated to exploring Gangtok's many attractions. From the panoramic views at Tashi Viewpoint to the peaceful surroundings of Ganesh Tok and Hanuman Tok, every stop seemed to reveal a different side of the city. The visit to the Institute of Tibetology and Dro-Dul Chorten Monastery offered a glimpse into the region's rich cultural heritage, while Ban Jhakri Falls, Bakthang Waterfall, and Lhasa Waterfall brought visitors closer to the natural beauty that makes Sikkim so popular among travellers.
The Mountains Always Have Their Own Plans

One of the most anticipated parts of the itinerary was the excursion towards Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir. The route is known for its dramatic mountain scenery, high-altitude landscapes, and ever-changing weather conditions.
During Chintamani's visit, the region experienced heavy snowfall, transforming the landscape into a spectacular winter scene. While the weather made access to some planned attractions difficult, it also showcased a different side of the mountains. Snow-covered roads, white mountain slopes, and the excitement that comes with witnessing fresh snowfall created memorable moments of their own.
What stood out most was how smoothly the day continued despite the changing conditions. Rather than allowing the weather to disrupt the experience, the local support team quickly coordinated alternate sightseeing options, ensuring that the day remained enjoyable and rewarding. Mountain destinations often require flexibility, and this became one of those moments where local expertise made all the difference.
Sometimes, travel memories come from the unexpected. For Chintamani, the snowfall became one of the stories from the trip that would be remembered long after returning home.
Perhaps the strongest endorsement came after the trip ended. Chintamani not only appreciated the experience but also recommended Thrillophilia to his friends, with one of them planning a Kashmir trip soon after. For any travel company, referrals like these are often the clearest sign of a journey well delivered.
Darjeeling Brought the Perfect Finale

After exploring Gangtok, the journey continued towards Darjeeling. The drive itself offered beautiful views of valleys, forests, and distant Himalayan peaks, making the transition between the two destinations feel like an attraction in its own right.
Darjeeling welcomed Chintamani with its charming hill-station atmosphere, tea estates, and colonial-era character. An early morning visit to Tiger Hill became one of the highlights of the trip. Watching the first rays of sunlight illuminate Kanchenjunga is an experience that attracts travellers from around the world, and it was easy to understand why. As daylight slowly spread across the mountains, the entire landscape seemed to change colour before everyone's eyes.
The sightseeing tour continued with visits to Batasia Loop and Ghoom Monastery, two landmarks that remain closely associated with Darjeeling's identity. Later, stops at the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, tea estates, Peace Pagoda, and other attractions offered a well-rounded introduction to the town. The journey ended with a comfortable stay at Hotel Golden Dolma, where prompt service ensured a pleasant conclusion to the trip.
Notes from the Thrillophilia Sikkim Team

Every mountain destination comes with its own set of challenges, particularly during the winter months when weather conditions can change quickly.
During Chintamani's trip, heavy snowfall affected access to Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir. Since traveller safety remains the highest priority, the team worked closely with local partners and drivers to assess road conditions and identify alternate sightseeing experiences that could be enjoyed safely. The goal was not simply to replace a missed attraction but to ensure that the overall experience remained enjoyable despite the changing weather.
Throughout the journey, Sathyabhasini from the operations team and Manisha from the ground support team remained actively involved in coordinating updates and assistance whenever required. Local cab crew members Vinod, Nikesh, Lakhpa, and Bijay also played an important role, helping travellers navigate the mountain routes comfortably while sharing valuable local insights along the way. Support from Yogesh Gurung at Bella Casa Hotel in Gangtok and the staff at Hotel Golden Dolma in Darjeeling further added to the overall experience.
So, yes, in the mountains, the weather may not always cooperate, but having the right people by your side can make all the difference!
